GRADING SCALE
Your final class average will be determined as follows:
| Discussion Board Participation | 10%
|
| Email Assignments | 20%
|
| Test I | 15%
|
| Test II | 15%
|
| Mid-term Exam | 20%
|
| Final Exam | 20%
|
The following grading scale will be used in this course:
| 90 – 100 | = A
|
| 80 - 89 | = B
|
| 70 - 79 | = C
|
| 60 - 69 | = D
|
| 0 - 59 | = F
|
Grades are issued on a 4-point system.
A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1
F = 0
The following grading scale for activities and papers has also been adopted:
- 4 major grammatical errors (in a one page assignment) = F
- 3 major grammatical errors (in a one page assignment) = D
- 2 major grammatical errors (in a one page assignment) = C
- 1 major grammatical error (in a one page assignment) = B
- 0 major grammatical error (in a one page assignment) = A
A student doesn’t receive an A based only on grammar in this course. But the student will not receive an A with one or more errors (per page) on an activity or major paper. Before you become scared, remember that all e-mail assignments are corrected by me and then returned to you for final submission. That already ensures a good grade for assignments. The above grading scale for major grammatical errors (which are outlined in Chapter 18 of your textbook) applies solely to the Midterm and Final Exam papers. With regard to these two papers, I encourage you to contact me prior to submission if you have any questions about grammar, syntax, or punctuation. Asking for help before a final submission is always a good idea. All good writers consult a variety of resources. It is my pleasure and my goal to be a facilitator in your efforts of becoming a good technical writer.
