PST 110C Introduction to Public Safety Communications

Welcome to Introduction to Public Safety Communications. This course was developed to provide a standardized training program of basic skills for public safety telecommunicators. The program is developed by the Institute for Emergency Preparedness in cooperation with the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, International, Inc. Introduction to Public Safety Communications is the first course in an 18 credit hour certificate program. Completion of this course earns three credit hours toward the APCO National Certificate, and may be applied toward Associate and Bacculaurette degree programs as well. This course is broken down into eight modules. There are specific rules of engagement for the Public Safety Distance Learning Program courses. These rules are available on "POLICIES" page. You should read this page carefully before beginning your studies.

During the course, you will use email and the Discussion Board to communicate with other students and your instructor. You must participate in these joint activities to pass the course.

All of your responses, both to the assigned questions for each module and to your fellow students' answers, must be posted on the discussion board. Email should be used for submitting specific module assignments to the instructor, or reporting problems of a personal nature.
